Congratulations to the Senior Hockey team on their win in the Meath and District League Final.
Recent results of matches played against Our Lady's Drogheda were not in favour of St.Dominic's. Second Year team Utah Jazz were beaten 21-10 and First Year team Chicago Sky lost 26-16. Both teams left it late to score coming alive in the second half. Team captains, Orla Murphy (First Year) and Kayleigh Murphy (Second Year) played great basketball, well done.
The First Year Basketball Team Nets gave coach Ms. Ahern a great welcome back when they beat Colaiste Bride 7-6 in the Schools Basketball League. The Junior Premier were confident winners also against Colaiste Bride with an impressive 34-19 win.
TheSenior and Cadette (under 16) were very unlucky with both teams exiting their competitions loosing by one basket. The Senior team were beaten by St. Louis Rathmines whilst the Cadette match went to overtime and were beaten by Presentation Terenure.
Last week (April 24th) we had a group of athletes compete in the North Leinsters in Santry. In the Junior girls high jump Emily Corcoran jumped a pb of 1m55cm to win the high jump. Alison Burke was an impressive winner of the inter 300m hurdles and also won the under 16 girls long jump. Cliona Murphy had a great battle in the senior girls 1500m and eventually finished a close 2nd in a new personal best time. Ellen Byrne, Aisling Moore, Kate Hanna and Aoife Corr all finished 5th in their races!
Our Minor Girls Team of Sinead Reynolds, Alison Burke, Zoe Couch, Rachel Greene, Abby Corr and Lucy Phelan won the Leinster Schools Cross Country on Wednesday 6th February in Santry. This is our first win in the Minors since 2007! Our Inter Girls Team of Cliona Murphy, Ellen Byrne, Aoife Corr and Orla Murphy just missed out on 3rd place by 5 points.
The Minor Girls and Cliona Murphy have qualified for the All Ireland Schools Championships which willl be held in Jordanstown on Saturday 9th March.
We had a very happy day at the schools cross-country in Santry on Wed 10th Oct. Our new first years had their first outing for the school and they did very well finishing 2nd behind Loreto Dalkey. The team was led in fine style by Sinead Reynolds, followed closely by Alison Burke, Zoe Couch, Abbey Corr, Ciara Hanley, Megan Carey, Katie Callan, Sylvia Oni and Magda Elamin.
In the inter girls race Cliona Murphy finished a fine 4th and led her team of Aoife Corr, Ellen Byrne, Maia Ryan , Orla Murphy and Laura Coughlan who was running in her first ever race to a fine 2nd place behind Skerries Community School. Well done girls!
Congratulations to the Junior Camogie Team on their impressive win against St. Macdaras. St.Dominic's beat St. Macdara's in the Dublin A Championship final. A match full of drama. With 5 minutes left we were eight points down. We scored two points and two goals to draw the match level. In extra time we found a new confidence and focus going on to win by five points. Excellent performances all over the park.
